Can’t Remove Device From SmartThings App

A few days ago, 2 of my Z-Wave light switches stopped working. When I went into the app to remove them, the app was stuck on the exclusion screen and wouldn’t let me take them off. When a device is actually working, there’s a process you can follow to remove it. When it’s dead, things get a little trickier. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to fix this and I’m going to show you how.
Start by going to https://graph.api.smartthings.com/.

From here, you’re going to want to log into the website. You’ll have to pick between a Samsung Account or a SmartThings account.

Once logged in, you’ll see a menu up top. Click on “My Locations” on the left hand side.

If you have more than 1 home hooked up, you can select which one you want to manage.

Click on the SmartThings home you want to manage. After clicking on it, you’ll be presented with a list of your devices.

Click on the device that is no longer responding. To help me find it, I had previously changed the name in the app so it said “DEAD Entrance Hallway”.

If you scroll down to the bottom, you’ll see a red Delete button. Clicking on that will delete the app from the device listing in the SmartThings app.
After doing that, give the SmartThings app a minute to update and you’ll no longer see the device listed!
